Hike and Discussion with World Wildlife Fund: Nature, sustainability and our everyday actions

On Sunday May 17, come join us for a hike through the Rouge Valley and then stay for some refreshments and an interactive discussion with Joanne Adair, Community Outreach Coordinator with WWF-Canada. She will be discussing nature, sustainability and the impact of our everyday actions and looks forward to hearing your thoughts.

Please meet at the Rouge Valley Conservation Centre between 1:00-1:30pm. The hike will begin at 1:30pm. For more information or to RSVP, click here.

Energy Conservation at Home

Tuesday May 19, 2009, 4:00pm - 8:00pm

Join us for a series of energy conservation presentations from 4pm-8pm at the Rouge Valley Conservation Centre, 1749 Meadowvale Road

Presentations include:

  1. - Home Energy Audits, EcoEnergy Retrofit Grants and Energy Savings presentation by EnWise Power Solutions

  2. - Standby Power Workshop: Do you know how much energy your electrical gadgets use, even when turned off?

  3. - Hybrid Vehicle Q&A with Brimell Toyota 

At 4pm and 6pm EnWise Power Solutions will do a short presentation about home energy audits, ecoEnergy retrofit grants and energy savings for your home.

Following each presentation and throughout the night, visitors are welcome to take part in a standby power workshop with Dr. Alan Fung from Ryerson University to learn about standby power and how much energy electrical appliances really use, even when they are turned off. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own electronic gadgets (remember to bring all your plugs) and small appliances to take part in this workshop. Visitors can also, take part in Ryerson University’s survey on potential cost and energy savings in heating and cooling systems in Residential houses.

And throughout the afternoon and evening, Brimell Toyota will be on site with their Prius hybrid vehicle to answer all of your hybrid questions.
