The Rouge Valley Conservation Centre was formed by concerned local members of the public who dedicated years of their lives to the protection of the Valley and its important ecological and cultural resources. The Centre offers members of the community a place to gather, learn about local ecosystems, hold events or meetings, as well as share ideas, information and experiences about the Rouge Valley.

Set in the scenic and locally rare Carolinian Zone, the Rouge Valley was identified in 1984, as a critical natural area that required protection. The Valley supports a regionally unparalleled number of species and community types which can be attributable to wide variations in habitat types, microclimates and successional states. The many locally rare prairie plant species as well as endangered species, so close to the largest urban centre in Canada, makes this an ethereal location.

The Rouge Valley Foundation, which operates the Rouge Valley Conservation Centre (RVCC), is an organization dedicated to raising awareness about conservation in general, and the Rouge Valley in particular. Since 1995 we have offered environmental school programs, interpretive hikes, and environmental events as well as worked to protect and restore the local habitat.

We need your help to continue to provide our services and keep our doors open. As an independent, registered, not-for-profit organization, we do not receive annual financial support from the City of Toronto or the Provincial or Federation levels of government, Rouge Park, Parks Canada or Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. Please help us ensure the continued operation of the RVCC and its education, conservation and environmental restoration programs.
